2021 Chevrolet Silverado LT Trail Boss

The much-anticipated 2022 Silverado redesign has given fans of the brand many new reasons to get excited. The brand’s designers have made significant changes to the performance, design, and lineup of the well-loved 1500 model, and we can’t wait to show you exactly what to expect from your turn behind the wheel. Our rundown of the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado changes covers everything you’ll need to know to get started.

2022 Silverado Redesign: What’s New on the 1500?

A Growing 2022 Silverado Lineup

The 2022 Chevy Silverado has a new flagship model that won’t be ignored:

  • The first-ever Chevy Silverado ZR2 will join the lineup as a highly capable off-road-ready vehicle. In addition to its standard 6.2L V8 engine, this model features a factory suspension lift, 33-inch off-road MT tires, unique springs, Multimatic dampers, and an exclusive skid plate package.
  • Exterior and interior changes balance this model’s rough-and-ready capability with everyday drivability and comfort. ZR2 badging, a black hood insert, and a Jet Black/Graystone leather-trimmed interior with dark trim finishes are just a few of its most distinguishing features.

2022 Silverado Performance & Engine Updates

These important changes to two popular engine options deserve your full attention:

  • The 2.7L Turbo High-Output engine now delivers up to 420 lb-ft of torque, an increase of more than 20% over the outgoing model. This engine now offers up to 9,500 pounds of towing capacity.
  • Even more significant improvements have been made to the DURAMAX® 3.0L Turbo-Diesel i6. In 2022, this engine will offer 13,300 pounds of towing capacity—an increase of nearly 4,000 pounds over the outgoing model. In essence, this means that the most efficient Silverado engine is now also one of the hardest-working.

2022 Silverado Safety and Driver Assistance Updates

You might say that the most impressive changes to the 2022 Chevy Silverado are those you can’t see:

  • Super Cruise — highly capable self-driving technology — is coming to the Silverado lineup in 2022! This hands-free driver assistance technology will be offered on High Country models.
  • Chevy Safety Assist is now standard on every trim. This package includes Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Following Distance Indicator, and IntelliBeam auto high beams.

2022 Silverado Exterior Design

The Silverado gets tougher, more capable, and more stylish for the new model year:

  • Chicago and Madison drivers can’t miss the significant changes that have been made to the vehicle’s front end! A bold new front fascia is standard on every trim. The headlamps are lower than before, and the new grille imparts a more stable, confident feel.
  • Three new exterior colors have been made available for 2022: Dark Ash, Sand Dune, and Glacier Blue Metallic.
  • The celebrated Multi-Flex tailgate—previously available on the 1500—is now also available on the Silverado 2500HD and the Silverado 3500HD. All Silverado models offer 12 standard tie-downs, which gives it an edge over all other competitors.

2022 Silverado Interior Design & Features

Chevrolet claims that the new Silverado features a more contemporary, refined, and spacious interior. Let’s take a look at the details:

  • The 2022 Silverado redesign includes a new 13.4-inch-diagonal horizontal touchscreen and a new 12.3-inch-diagonal digital gauge cluster display!
  • The center console and the instrument panel have both been redesigned for a cleaner, more sophisticated look. Both elements help the interior to look and feel less cluttered.
  • The Silverado High Country features exclusive updates like authentic open-pore wood trim, standard leather stitching with perforation, and stainless steel Bose® speaker grilles. Drivers who choose this model can also select from Jet Black and Nightshift Blue for their interior.
