How to Shop for Flatbed Trucks
Buying a flatbed truck is different than purchasing a sedan for your family. There are a few things you should take into account when picking the right rig:
- Class: Commercial trucks vary in carrying weight. Consider how much weight you’ll need to haul, then pick your class accordingly.
- Inspect the Goods: It goes without saying that you should inspect the vehicle, make sure everything is in working order, and be certain it has all the features and functions your business needs.
- Consider Mileage: Will you use the vehicle locally or will it drive cross-country? Figure the cost of those miles and the ensuing maintenance before you make your decision.
- Know Your Licensing: Some commercial vehicles don’t require you or your driver to have a CDL, but others do. Check with your local licensing department to make sure your staff is properly licensed to drive the vehicle off the lot.
